Since its establishment in 2009, Seoul National University Asia Center (SNUAC) has sought to explore practical solutions for issues related to globalization, society, and industry within the Asian world, establish the identity of “Asian Studies” from an Asian perspective, and disseminate both “knowledge on Asia” and “Asian knowledge.” Through such endeavors, SNUAC has promoted the importance of coexisting with nature, maintaining tolerance for others, and ameliorating uneven development.

In the past 15 years, SNUAC has hosted various international conferences, bringing together international and local researchers to examine and discuss these pertinent topics within Asian Studies. From 2025, SNUAC will launch an annual international conference that will provide a platform for Asian Studies scholars to come together periodically and engage in dialogues on an Asia in flux. The theme for the inaugural conference, the “2025 SNUAC Conference on Asian Studies,” is “Mega-Asia, a New Perspective on Asia.”
